Buyer (Foods) – Harwich, Essex

• Location: Office Based, Harwich, Essex – Candidates must be able to relocate/ commute 

We are seeking Junior / Experienced Buyers to join our world foods business.

You will have accountability for a specified category within the commercial Buying team. You will be responsible for ensuring your supply base and the product range is optimised, proactively using data and analysis to maximize performance to and drive sales, profitability, and share growth to support Surya Foods overall strategy and goals.

The Role:

• Owning and managing some key food categories in the business
• Managing your supply base across key indicators including cost, availability, service levels, and cost management and mitigation
• Ensuring suppliers are contractually compliant
• Sourcing and onboarding new suppliers, including negotiating and setting commercial contracts
• Looking at opportunities to innovate with suppliers and create efficient, for example reducing packaging to create a shared cost benefit
• Support NPD projects
• Trading performance responsibility, including regular sales reports, budgets, and targets

The ideal candidate will have experience in Food FMCG procurement with the following skills;

• • Previous experience in a comparable role is essential
  • Good awareness of product and category trends
  • Planning and selecting an efficient range for a product category across private label and brands
  • Global sourcing capability and experience in setting up supply chains
  • Procuring at the right technical standards and product quality benchmarks
  • Managing supplier relationships end to end, being exceptional negotiators and influencers
  • Flexible with the ability to work on several projects running at the same time
  • Good time management to ensure deadlines are met and critical paths are maintained
  • Great team player, willing to help others when needed
