Food Production Operative (Manufacturing), Harwich, Essex

  • Salary: £8.91 p/h starting rate
  • Status: Full Time / Permanent
  • Hours of Work: 40 hours per week (with a degree of flexibility with shifts, i.e. 5 x 8 hour days / 4 x 10 hour days).
  • Location: Harwich, Essex

As a Production Operative at this site, you will work on a fast-paced automated production line where you will be involved in bagging the product into a final pack format for the end customer. This will involve managing the quality of the finished product as well as ensuring all the documentation related to the process is completed on time.

Typical daily duties will include:

  • Organise production processes to maximise efficiency and meet targets
  • Ensure quality standards for all products are met, raising any concerns
  • Ensure company procedures for Health, Hygiene and Safety and Food Safety are followed
  • Manage operation of the line assigned and report any issues or breakdowns to the Production Manager/ Engineers
  • Identify potential areas for improvement to production methods and processes

Skills Required:

  • Previous experience working within a food production environment desirable but not essential as full training will be provided to support ongoing progression/development
  • Attention to detail is imperative
  • Good numeracy and written skills
  • Confident working in a team and independently
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Have a strong work ethic conveying confidence and passion in delivering high quality service
  • Being committed to safety, quality and productivity
  • Achieving a high standard of punctuality and attendance, following company production rules,  adhering to health and safety rules and promote a safe working environment, manual handling required.

You may have experience in some of the following:

  • Vertical Form fill sealing machines
  • Filling out records including weight, metal checks, H&S, quality, and food safety
  • Experience working in a labour-intensive, hands-on environment
  • Forklift driving
  • Food Production/ Packing / Machine operator experience
