NPD Specifications Technologist – FMCG – Harwich, Essex.

  • Status: Full Time/ Permanent
  • Hours: Monday to Friday, 9am – 6pm
  • Location: Harwich, Essex
  • Salary: Competitive/ Negotiable

Reporting directly to the NPD Manger, this will be an exciting hands-on role where you will be involved in both the office and kitchen.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Creation of initial and full technical specifications.
  • Creation of artwork for labelling to legislative, company and customer standards.
  • Working within a team and independently to ensure food safety, quality and legislative compliance.
  • Maintaining Internal specifications and associated documents to ensure correct planning and production of products.
  • Supporting the company and department during day-to-day operations.
  • Liaising with the team on technical matters.
  • Signing off ingredient and product specs with the Suppliers.
  • Complete product information sheets for all products as required.
  • Signing off ingredient and product specs with the Suppliers.
  • Ensure any on-pack claims are backed up and actively participate to agreed titles, subtitles and any special “on-pack” claims.
  • Proofread and approve artwork in line with legal and customer codes of practice.
  • Daily use and upkeep of the new NPD system, ensuring the ingredient/ product information is accurate, up-to-date, compliant and consistent across different ingredients and suppliers.

What we are looking for:

  • Scientific background: degree / HND educated in food science, food technology, chemistry or product quality-based subject or related discipline
  • Understanding of UK/EU food legislation and the desire to become an expert!
  • Excellent organisational and administrative skills in a fast-moving dynamic environment
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Good teamworking abilities
  • The ability to work independently
  • Meticulous attention to detail, especially with regards to food hygiene and safety
  • Experience in developing and launching new products with retail and food service customers
  • Experience of working within product development in an FMCG environment
  • Managing critical paths and coordinating internal departments to ensure successful product launches
  • Computer literate
  • Full UK Driving Licence
