As part of our continued drive for growth we will soon be opening a whole new division of our foods business…..Snack Foods. Examples being: Nuts, Prawn Crackers, Bombay Mix, Savoury Nibbles and Crisps to name but a few.
To support this exciting new division, reporting to the Operations Manager, we are seeking an experienced Production Manager – Snacks & Nuts who can bring their expertise to our business.
This is a senior position responsible for managing and overseeing all aspects of the Snack foods production and recipe developement based at our 11 acre production and distribution site in Harwich, Essex.
Building on your extensive experience and knowledge, having worked in a comparable role, this will be hands on and will drive a new and exciting key growth area of the business.
Main Duties and responsibilities:
Oversee snack production operations ensuring KPI’s are delivered and efficiencies are maximised.
Lead development of recipes, flavourings, blending, ingedients and costings.
Ensure product and people compliance to policy and procedures.
Ensure production areas comply with hygienic standards laid out by the site quality policy manual.
Assist with audits and audit preparation.
Manage production trials.
Non-conformance reporting, trending & corrective actions.
Develop SOP’s and work instructions with Technical Department.
Staff training compliance.
Oversee record completion/keeping for traceability.
Ensure legislative compliance.
Plan for growth to ensure sufficient capacity ahead of demand, maximising flexibility and minimising operational costs.
Championing highest standards of Health & Safety.
Project management – manage & support projects which affect the department directly and indirectly, ensuring timelines are met.
Strive for business improvements and cost reduction initiatives.
Control waste within guidelines.
Recruitment of staff.
Support staff development.
Manage employee relations including disciplinary matters.
Skills, qualifications and experience required
Experience of development of snack recipes, flavours, blending, ingredients and costings.
Knowledge of fryers and packing machines including process controls and efficiencies.
Sound knowledge and proven track record within snack production and packing operations.
Experience of dealing with major multiple customers.
Experience of HACCP systems.
Sound understanding of Health & Safety, food safety, hygiene, environmental & quality standards.
A food hygiene qualification.
People skills essential with particular emphasis on management and communication.
Exposure to commercial management and budget control.
