The Role:

Due to continued growth, we are expanding our Production Operation this year adding a new line to our already successful and established operations. We are therefore seeking a Production Team Leader, reporting to the Production Manager at our 11 acre site in Harwich Essex.

As a Production Team Leader, you will support our production teams and Manager in delivering a safe and efficient line that produces that highest quality products possible. This is one of the most important roles we have within our company as our Team Leaders work to keep our machines and teams running at peak performance in a safe and supportive manner.

General Responsibilities:

  • As a Production Team Leader, you will be responsible for checking that our machines and equipment are in peak condition, that our teams are performing the best they can and supporting our management team in organizing our complex operation.
  • This is the perfect role for a strong leader, who has experience within a production environment and is looking to put their skills to the test in a state-of-the-art factory for a market leading company.

To facilitate this growth, we are seeking a Group Head of Technical. Reporting to the Managing Director, you will manage the technical function, including Health & Safety, Quality and Compliance to ensure that there is a robust HACCP system on site covering maintenance of food safety systems, maintain documented quality systems whilst meeting all legislative requirements and those of the company customers.  

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Head up the technical function in a growing business, ensuring all customers are confident with the knowledge, experience and technical integrity of the technical department and devise and implement a comprehensive annual plan for the technical department and performance monitoring of the team.
  • Lead and advise the site teams on statutory regulations and company standards relating to good manufacturing practice, food safety, quality and environmental hygiene.
  • Strong delivery of business technical KPI’s. These will include: consumer complaints, audit performance, extrinsic and internal (including ISO, BRC, HACCP) pest control, hygiene % compliance to schedule, training and development of teams.
  • Liaise in professional manner with customers, external auditors and major retailers in matters of a technical nature.
  • Liaise with local and international authorities regarding site food safety and legislation, labelling, customer complaints and environmental issues.
  • Lead in respect of Health & Safety across sites.
  • Train staff in level 2 food hygiene, level 2 health & safety, level 3 food hygiene (Supervisor’s and Manager’s).
  • You’ll also own the processes within the technical department and track, trend and implement improvement procedures based around non-conformances.

Essential Skills:

  • A food science degree
  • Level 4 HACCP
  • An advanced food hygiene diploma.
  • Sound knowledge of BRC, FEMAS and HACCP.
  • Experience in a similar role.

To facilitate this growth, we are seeking a Commercial Coordinator, reporting to the Category Controller.  This role is a hugely important one within Surya Foods.  You will be the administrative support to all departments within the business and will work closely with our Independent & Multiples Sales Teams in their liaison with key retail customers (eg Tesco, Asda, Aldi, Independent stores etc.), to ensure that Surya Foods have the right ranges, promotions and internal administration to fuel the business’ desire to continue to grow in this area

Key tasks

  • Identify and propose areas of improvement across the business
  • Report on customer sales, identifying trends and opportunities
  • To complete all New Line Forms as required by customers
  • Liaise with cross functional teams to ensure that sales forecasts are live and will achieve service level targets
  • Manage and track specific KPIs
  • Collate and manage a product master file and ensure that customers have accurate data on new and existing products
  • To work with the internal buying team to improve the clarity and sharing of product details, opportunities and changes
  • Ensure that promotional plans are in place and aligned to operational plans

To facilitate this growth, we are seeking a Demand Planning Manager. The successful applicant will report into the Managing Director. The successful candidate will ideally have a minimum of 5 years’ experience of demand planning gained in an FMCG organisation. You will be well versed in interpreting data from different sources and translating this into a production plan that ensures customer availability is protected but best value from production assets is achieved. You’ll be a strong communicator, with good influencing skills and a willingness to work cross functionally.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing daily and weekly production plans, using Excel & other inhouse data sources.
  • Managing capacity planning and resources to ensure products are completed on time in full.
  • Updating the business cross functional teams on any changes or possible issues.
  • Understand promotional volumes, seasonal volatile peaks and new product launches.
  • Analysing and revising production plans and updating deadlines to achieve weekly volumes.
  • Chair daily production review meetings with the shift managers to ensure production flow and achieved targets
  • Be able to solve issues and work with the team for solutions.
  • Manage component ordering in time with production schedules and expectations.
  • Communicational lead with packaging, film and label suppliers, from ordering to delivery and cost reductions.
  • Present weekly current production plan and future weeks capacity scheduling.
  • Assisting the team to cover other activities and project work when required

Skills & Qualifications include;

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Demand Planning gained in a Food manufacturing organisation (Whole grain, beans knowledge would be an advantage)

In-house Commercial Lawyer Counsel Solicitor Paralegal – Harwich, Essex (Future Colchester 12+ months)

As a result of continued growth we are looking to expand our existing Legal department which supports Surya Foods and its sister operations and we are seeking an in-house Commercial Solicitor, preferably qualified/at that level (although newly qualified applicants would be considered), who is able to turn their hand to a wide variety and range of work which includes company secretarial, fintech supported and related documents, hotel agreements, general litigation and otherwise.

The candidate will ideally have a general understanding of law and a very practical and commercial approach.

This role is required primarily in Harwich Essex, likely with future location based from Colchester (12+ months time).

The candidate will be working with the person who provides in house legal services to a number of companies. The workload is predominately Commercial and some Corporate awareness would be beneficial. The in-house role will be to undertake a diverse range of legal work.

Responsibilities;

  • Broad commercial legal knowledge to include different areas of law (e.g. Commercial, intellectual property, data protection)

What the HGV CLASS 1 role involves:

Working out of our main distribution and warehousing site in Harwich, Essex we are looking for professional, experienced drivers to deliver to clients using one of our new fleet of vehicles.

What we require from a HGV CLASS 1 driver:

Based at our 11 acre production, distribution and foods head office site in Harwich, Essex you will work closely with multiple departments including transport, production, quality and sales & marketing ensuring the smooth running of fast moving production and warehousing facilities and logistical operations.

Building on your extensive experience and knowledge, working in a comparable role in FMCG, you will be a ‘walk the floor’ manager with a track record of cultural, process and operational improvement, change and transformation, team building, employee engagement and empowerment within a growth environment.

Main Purpose:

  • To Manage the manufacturing teams incorporating Production and Engineering to deliver the goals and objectives of the organisation.

  • Ensure compliance to all UK legislation, independent accreditation like BRCGS and retailer standards.

  • Support managers in development and control of labour budgets, ensuring that manpower levels, overtime working etc. are effectively controlled within operational demands.
  • Manage budgeting and budget with focus on product costs and margins.

Suitable candidates will have:

We are seeking a Goods In/ Warehouse Operator with Forklift experience to work permanent Nights.

  • Rate of Pay: Competitive/Negotiable

  • Hours: 7pm to 7am (Nights) weekend work involved, including every Saturday.

Duties:

  • To receive and despatch goods in our busy Goods In Department and pack goods for replenishment. To check goods in against delivery notes for accuracy and damages
  • Load and unload trucks and vans in line with H&S procedures
  • Move goods to relevant departments using pallets trucks and electric ride on trucks;
  • Notify the relevant Department via the Delivery Note of any short shipments/mis-picks;
  • Notify relevant Department of any damaged goods received and place in the Quarantine section, awaiting further instruction;
  • Physical movement of stock from the Goods In area to the warehouse and/or packing and putting away stock onto the shelves
  • Shelf replenishment; take from pallet bin locations, replenish shelf and then put the balance back in pallet bin location;
  • Packing goods
  • Maintain yard and department tidiness/recycle the cardboard;

Inbound of Goods (Tipping) – where you work as part of a team to coordinate the raw material coming in and the by-products going out. As part of this, you will have to manage record of stocks and be involved in unloading of goods on a day to day basis which requires manually lifting materials, so physical exertion is required.

Production (Milling) – the specialist area of the process where you will be looking after the throughput of the product through the heart of production – the mill. You will also have to manage timely record of quality documents and cleaning documents as you go along the day with this process.

Packing – area where you will be involved in bagging the product into a final pack format for the end customer. This will involve managing the quality of the finished product as well as ensuring all the documentation related to the process is completed on time.

To support our growing business, we are recruiting, on a permanent basis, a Product Cost Accountant and Commercial Analyst. Reporting to the Commercial Director, detail of this important role is as follows:

Purpose:

  • Manage the SKU costing process within the business
  • Ownership of the Customer SKU profitability models
  • Input into Commercial Evaluation Process (including bought-in products)

Principle requirements:

  • Provision of commercial decision support, by providing cost information and analysis for the senior management team to support, promotions and contract evaluation
  • Providing input into the calculations of profitability by customer
  • Ownership of the standard costing process
  • Manage and maintain Customer Profitability models, ensuring data is accurate and up to date
  • General financial analysis and investigations as required from time to time. This is a group role that may require travel to our sister sites

Objectives:

  • Develop and deliver a methodology and process for costing products in a single, simple effective way across the business
  • Using Standard costs, create Customer Profitability models/Open Book for all Customers
  • Develop a process to ensure all Commercial cost requests use Standard costs rather than requiring site input each time.

 Personal Skills / Qualities:

  • Preferably CIMA Qualified Accountant – although active part qualified would be considered
  • Experience of cost accounting within FMCG sector
  • Good understanding of manufacturing costings
  • Experience of designing and embedding process improvements into ways of working
  • Experience in implementing financial systems and processes (desirable)
